Woodhall Estates Project Reveal!

After months of careful planning, scheming, dreaming, & execution we are excited to share another major renovation completed this year! This project involved transforming two essential areas in our client's home: the kitchen and the laundry room. Drenched in delicious high-end details, grab a glass of wine, settle in, and let’s explore the exciting transformation!

Every successful renovation starts with a clear vision. We spent multiple weeks thinking about our clients' needs and pain points & how each space should function and feel. The home was in immaculate condition; however, both the kitchen & laundry room were tight & lacked necessary storage. Our focus was to check off our clients' wish list while integrating custom details throughout.

Our client requested to keep the left side wall for privacy to the adjacent home office & garage access; therefore, we had to make the available square footage work. The solution was to relocate the laundry room upstairs & push through the adjacent wall to enlarge the kitchen. The results provided more natural light into the kitchen & space for a unique L shaped island.

The warm neutral palette complimented the home very well, so we decided to enhance it by layering in a blend of textures & finishes with warm undertones. We wrapped the kitchen with gorgeous Taj Mahal Quartzite counters & Zelige backsplash tile. We further elevated the island storage throughout, mitered edges & a stone profile in front of the sink.

The front exterior elevation of the home includes beautiful arches, so we opted for a full radius arched doorway leading into the existing hallway. We reached out to our good friends, Char'd Urban Woodworks & Ted Morgan Designs to build this custom beauty, and we love the impactful architectural feature it provides.

Other amazing features are the custom metal hood fabricated exactly the way we designed it, and the polished nickel pot filler just underneath. Now the main focal wall, we wanted these to stand out in a dramatic way. The hood's texture & coloration provides transitional balance of feminine & masculine elements & with the sink now located in the island, the pot filler makes preparation & cooking easy & enjoyable.

We aimed for a light & bright aesthetic, & to pair with the SW Modern Gray walls, we opted for SW Alabaster on the perimeter cabinets. With the kitchen centrally located, this combination really brightened up the main level of the home.

It was important we utilized every square inch of the existing space plan to maximize flow & function. With this, we had to ensure we met permitting codes; therefore, custom details were required to check both boxes. To preserve the beautiful slab & tile backsplash, we installed custom pop-up outlets around the perimeter countertops. Pop-up outlets require A LOT of professional collaboration, but when installed correctly, they are well worth the energy & expense.

Maximizing storage was crucial. We incorporated pull-out shelves and drawers in the lower cabinets, which made access easy and efficient. In addition, we created a well-organized pantry, allowing quick access to commonly used items. This setup saves time & energy towards everyday tasks & when entertaining.

Just on the other side of the kitchen we converted the once drop zone into a sexy bar ready to serve our clients & their guests. We continued Taj Majal counter & backsplash & paired it with SW Urban Bronze cabinets. The metal inserts are the perfect finishing touch.

Next, the laundry room, often an afterthought, now shines as a spacious functional workhorse! Relocated to the oversized primary bedroom, our clients now have a spacious & beautiful room to tackle all their laundry demands.

We framed in the sitting area of the primary bedroom & installed a separate laundry entry in the upstairs landing to maintain privacy in the bedroom. We kept the existing exterior window to allow a flood of natural light into this now enclosed space. We chose white walls to offset the dark cabinets & varying backsplash tile.

We focused on making this hard-working space beautiful & welcoming using cost effective finishes. Cabinetry above the washer and dryer now neatly holds detergents and supplies, keeping counters clear. A small utility sink tucked in the corner provides quick water access for stubborn stains. An open shelf makes it easy to grab essential items when needed, and an elongated countertop is great for folding clean laundry.

Neutral finishes with warm undertones were carried throughout this beautiful project. When designing multiple spaces, it's important the spaces holistically connect to generate a harmonious finish. This house was cozy & welcoming when we first walked in, but now these spaces hug you like a warm blanket, and they feel as if they were always a part of this story. We are thrilled with the results of this project & we wish our clients many beautiful memories ahead.

We hope you’ve enjoyed this glimpse into this kitchen and laundry room renovation! Each step, from initial ideas to final touches, was an adventure that transformed this home into a warm and beautifully functioning haven.
