Small, but mighty is the perfect description of this space. Where this room lacks in square footage, we made up for it in layers. These clients wanted a cave like room where they can curl up on a cozy sofa and enjoy movies. Ask and you shall receive! Read on to learn how we layered this space with various textures to give them the coziest cave around.

With a neutral color on the existing barn doors, the white walls and ceiling provided a blank canvas to exercise our creativity. Instantly, we asked permission to paint the ceiling and trim because the power of paint is undeniable, and by doing this, we immensely elevated the overall mood in this space. We painted the can lights and speaker covers so they blend into the walls and ceiling.
We wrapped the walls with a heavily texturized faux grass cloth wallpaper in a complimentary color. When sourcing selections for this room, we chose SW 7076 Cyberspace for the ceiling and trim, and unbeknownst to us at the time, this was the same color on the existing barn doors. It was meant to be all along.
Because of window position and small square footage, obtaining a good photograph of the drapery was really tricky. To prevent light filtering in we installed motorized black out roller shades and motorized floor to ceiling black out window panels. The panels were installed on a ceiling track with a ripple fold pleat. With a push of a button, these clients are surrounded by their own little sophisticated cave. The oversized television and surround sound speakers provide a theatre experience like no other.
We kept styling minimal and functional to avoid overcrowding the small space. A plush contemporary sectional provides a cozy area to lounge, while the low profile media console provides additional storage to house their technology accessories. The aluminum c-tables on either side of the sectional provide a sturdy surface for snacks and beverages.
We are thrilled with the results of this small, but mighty space. We are confident these clients will enjoy this room for many years to come. Stay tuned for the final reveal of the unique home office sure to make any zoom attendee jealous.
